Tell General Mills to stop using palm oil that causes rainforest destruction.

Dear ---,

Yes. It's true. General Mills, makers of some of America's favorite cereals and snacks, uses palm oil from plantations that destroy huge tracts of rainforests in Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. Palm oil is a common ingredient in General Mills brands and products, from Betty Crocker and Pillsbury to Nature Valley Granola Bars and Yogurt Burst Cheerios.

Tell General Mills to clean up its palm oil supply chain and make a commitment to source only socially and environmentally responsible palm oil:

The Facts on General Mills and Palm Oil
* Palm oil for General Mills products is causing valuable rainforests to be burned and cleared away
* Indonesia's government plans to convert up to 18 million hectares of land into palm oil plantations by 2020
* More than 20 million of Indonesia's Indigenous and forest-dependent people are at risk due to palm oil expansion
* Endangered species-including orangutans, Sumatran tigers and elephants-are at risk from palm oil expansion
* Indonesia is the 3rd largest greenhouse gas polluter, behind China and the U.S.
*Deforestation causes 15 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions

While General Mills has expressed concern about recent reports of rainforest destruction for palm oil and has begun to engage its suppliers, this leading company must take stronger action to ensure the protection of rainforests, communities and the climate, as other companies have already done. RAN has asked General Mills to stop this destruction by only sourcing socially and environmentally responsible palm oil, but they need to hear from you.

Send a letter to Kendall Powell, the CEO of General Mills, and let him know that you don't want rainforest destruction caused by the General Mills products you buy:

Thanks so much for helping to set General Mills straight!

For the forests,
